CHRONOGRAM
FROM FEBRUARY 13 TO 18, 2025
Nica Portavía
Italia/libano
I was born in Fano, Italy, from an Italian father and a Lebanese mother. I started dancing when I was a child. I am a dancer, teacher and researcher, performer in the field of Contact Improvisation. I discovered CI many years ago, after having followed a first training in contemporary dance, and I fell in love from the first moment. I trained mainly abroad with many teachers, including Steve Paxton, Daniel Lepkoff, Charlie Morrissey, Angelika Doney, Asaf Bacharach, KJ Holmes, Anya Cloud. I followed a training on Material for the spine, by Steve Paxton, where I had the great pleasure of meeting and studying with Steve, fully immersing myself in his research. I have taught and teach in France, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Russia, Poland, Tanzfabrik in Berlin, Germany. I am an organizer of national and international events, among them the Italycontactfest (International CI Festival that takes place in Italy and has already reached its tenth edition www.italycontactfest.com) and the Being Touch Festival (www.beingtouch.org). I was in the organization team of Ecite 2022 Portugal, and organizer of Ecite 2024, I am a communicator of the CI Global Calendar project. I have participated as a teacher in numerous international and European festivals, and I have taught intensive workshops in different parts of the world. I am an improviser, and I love to make creations about cultural and social issues. Nica Portavía Nica Portavía Nica Portavía
A research-study on Contact Improvisation and Improvisation.
This intensive is a space to study and investigate contact improvisation as a practice of awareness, action and solidarity.
Where can we feel the slightest disturbance?
How can the smallest thing become a big impact for our dance?
How can the smallest thing have an impact on the whole system?
How does a big impact affect our sensations?
These are some of the questions that will allow us to begin our research.
We will approach the body as a community, a network of relationships that affects the interior and exterior space.
We will explore a somatic-anthropological approach that will give us access to the smallest, investigating how a small impact can become a revolution in the way we perceive and move on this planet earth and how our history is impacting our steps.
We will investigate Contact Improvisation as a practice of sensations-revolutions-choices and small/big impacts.
Immerse ourselves in our tissues, skeletal system, breathe and imagine together. Roll, fall, fly, jump - be ready for any change and dance any NOW.
We will dance cooperating with gravity, with space, with the support we receive living on this planet earth.
We will investigate relationships as a practice to stay human, soften our heart and make space to meet each other.
We will practice IC as a space for exchange, solidarity, support and revolution.
They have been living, dancing and teaching together for more than 25 years in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Their research is rooted in the simple phenomena of everyday life in circuit with the I.Q. as an initiatory practice that can unite the different quadrants of the Self. They are now interested in the process of individuation, through the power of the bond in physical contact, as an entry into the state of "Primal Improvisation". They have also been taken by the passion of assisting, accompanying deliveries/births. For them the C.I is a way of life, a language to understand and share in the world. They create and produce events related to Contact: Jams, Labs, performances, classes, meetings, festivals (Festín de Ci de Buenos Aires). Their current focus is on generating Of line spaces for practice and teaching.

But how to write it :::- let's see :::: " the skin is the limit? Do the muscles contain something? Is it the bones that support and structure? Or is it the meeting of the forces that builds the movement from gestation to death? Forms of touching that were cancelled in early childhood are recovered, and lead us to a founding duet of the bond of the individual to the earth that includes the vitality of a partner: alchemizing the flesh and the poetics of enjoyment, in the dance of c.i. We open access to the power of the encounter.

MIRADAS EN ESPIRAL:
A JOURNEY FROM THE EYES TO THE COLLECTIVE DANCE
This session is an invitation to inhabit the unfolding of our movement: from the subtle to the expansive, to perceive ourselves with softness and to find ourselves through listening, trust and care.
As a starting point, we will explore the possibilities of the ocular musculature as an initiator of movement. From there, we will activate its connection with the spine to enjoy its articulated and spiral movement.
Thus, available and soft, we will surrender ourselves to the power of collective dance, of play, of spontaneity and surprise?
